RIP Gay Games VII

Howdy. Officially experiencing Day One Post-Gay Games hangover. Gay Games VII ended fittingly at the glorious Wrigley Field in my new favorite city, Chicago. Sar and I were completely enraptured by the rooftop seats that had been constructed on what we counted as 13 roof tops surrounding Wrigley Field, as well as by the gorgeous ivy at the back of the outfield, and by the stunning scoreboard topped by a good ol' A-Mare-Ih-Kun flag. Seats can be had for the asking, as Sar astutely spotted an ad on the L post-Closing Ceremonies. Dial 773-TICKETS for da 4-1-1. Gorged on Penny's Thai food for a song right nearby Wrigley, highly recommended. Especially enjoyed the crispy rolls and Tom Kha Gai soup (coconut milk with chicken, mushrooms, scallions, etc.) mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Chilling with Avril right now, heading out soon to the new Flight 001 shop here in Chi-town to procure lovely new wallets by Tusk and perhaps a pretentious but lovely matching business card holder. Wanted to head to Evanston to luxuriate in the fantastic movie house there, and take in The Devil Wears Prada, but time won't allow, with the laundry list currently in place (the first item being Do Laundry), may instead hop on the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier, and consume some Gino's Pizza. Will definitely see film back in NY however, as I love Meryl Streep, who looks f'ing hysterical, and the charming Anne Hathaway, who I thought was particularly great in Brokeback Mountain- actually she told a really funny story at the HRC Annual Dinner in March about her audition for Ang Lee. She won me over completely with that, she was hyper-marrant, as they would say in Franch (sp.- think Ricky's mother's accent in the cult classic film Better Off Dead- "Franch bread, Franch fries, Franch dressing...")

Anyhoo, will report more later on last Friday night with Margaret Cho, and all of the tennis details from Da Games. A preview: Margaret ended the show by telling the story of being on some crazy diet for 5-6 weeks, eating nothing but Persimmon, driving in her car in LA, and totally shitting her pants. I laughed so hard it hurt, and after the show we got Sar a great bright red CHO shirt to commemorate the fantastic night.

Wanting to soak up more of Chicago, but anxious to get back to Da Cats, Edgar and Elphie in NYC...More postings lay-turr.

XXXeaueaueau,

Matt

Matt is right, we had a fabulous time in Chicago! And did he mention he played some damn good tennis, too?
Love,
